THE BRIEF
What the game needed.
Give a collection of everyday drawing tools distinct personalities while keeping them readable together on a game board.
A decision that shaped it.
Cyan, magenta, orange and warm yellow separate the cast. Thick outlines and exaggerated expressions make the personalities readable without relying on tiny detail.
WORK IN THE PROJECT
What came together.
- A coordinated cast of stationery characters and title artwork.
- A browser game frontend with cluster presentation, interface components and animation that responds to gameplay.
- Spine-based character assets alongside a repeatable animation review process.
The implemented result.
The project combines a Svelte and PixiJS frontend with Spine assets. The loading artwork and board capture show how the same visual language carries from the title into the game.
Inkfall is a cluster-pays slot on a 7x7 grid, so every symbol has to hold its own at a small size next to six others of its kind. That constraint shaped the art from the first sketch: bold silhouettes, one strong colour per character and animation that stays readable when a whole cluster wins at once.
